Abstract

The subject of this work is understanding of dominant role of English language in contemporay international community in terms of globalization. The focus of the analysis is the increasing influence and interpenetration of different political, economic and cultural influence that is possible thanks to the global spread and acceptance of English as the modern ligua franca of people around the world. To support and confirm the initial hypothesis of work, there is a list of areas in which the English language has prevailed over other foreign languages: international institutions and organizations, international business and economics, publishing and media, education, postal, telegraph and telephone traffic, internet, science and technology, international travel and tourism, etc.
