Abstract

The 2019 European Parliament election in the United Kingdom held on the 23rd of May witnessed the renewal of UKIP’s political influence as the Brexit Party achieved good results, and this outcome is bound to have repercussions on further developments regarding political situation in the country. The 2019 European parliament election in the Republic of Ireland was also held in the light of the political situation concerning Brexit, as it remains uncertain whether stricter borders will be re-established between Ireland and Northern Ireland. UK and Irish parties which were able to position themselves successfully in relation to Brexit - the major campaign topic - saw a rise in their popularity.
